Joint Inventor

Definition:
An inventor who is named with at least one other inventor in a patent application, wherein each inventor contributes to the conception of the invention set forth in at least one claim in a patent application.

Trade Name

Definition:
A symbol used to identify and distinguish companies, partnerships, and businesses, as opposed to marks used to identify and distinguish goods or services.

EFS-ABX

Definition:
Electronic Filing System Application Body eXtensible Markup Language authoring tool (for patent applications); superceded by EFS-Web

Community Trade Mark

Definition:
A trademark registration granted by the European Community Trademark Office and enforceable throughout EC member nations.

Suggestive Mark

Definition:
A word, picture, or other symbol that suggests, but does not directly describe, something about the goods or services in connection with which it is used as a mark.

Counterfeit

Definition:
In general, counterfeit goods are copied and packaged to resemble genuine/legitimate goods as closely as possible. The legitimate producer's trademarks and logos are reproduced in order to deceive consumers into thinking they are buying the genuine merchandise.
